Job Description
The Boat Operator will be responsible for the safe operation, navigation, and maintenance of vessels used for community programs, environmental monitoring, fisheries, cultural, and land-based activities. The position supports the Nation’s stewardship, resource management, and marine transportation needs while ensuring adherence to all relevant safety, environmental, and operational standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate Nation-owned vessels for community, fisheries, cultural, and stewardship activities
- Conduct regular vessel inspections and basic maintenance to ensure operational readiness
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, fuel usage, maintenance, and safety checks
- Navigate safely in coastal and inland waterways using charts, GPS, and local knowledge
- Assist with loading and unloading gear, equipment, and passengers
