Job Description
Materials Scientist – Processor Development
D-Wave is seeking a creative, energetic, and self‑motivated Materials Scientist to join our Processor Development (PD) team. The PD team designs, fabricates, and tests the quantum processors at the core of our quantum computers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct failure analysis of superconducting chips made in CMOS fabrication facilities using TEM and FIB‑SEM.
- Determine the best analysis techniques for specific failure analysis and materials development questions, including Raman, IR, XPS, EDS, EELS, XRD, AES, AFM, and others.
- Analyze and interpret data from materials characterization methods, applying knowledge of crystallography, atomic‑level material structure, defects, and imaging artifacts.
- Collaborate with device physicists and fabrication engineers to understand how material and fabrication defects affect circuit behavior and design experiments.
