Job Summary
The Planning and Development Department manages the growth, development, and physical form of the city, which is led by a Senior Planner. This advanced professional planning position works at a supervisory level, exercising considerable independent judgment in the review and analysis of development projects. The incumbent manages and leads the review of major development projects from initiation through execution, coordinating with stakeholders and other city departments. The role also involves conducting regular reviews of the Zoning by-law, applying broad skills in land use, public consultation, and interdepartmental coordination. A strong understanding of urban design principles is required, along with thorough knowledge of the development approvals process.
