Job Description
A rigger is responsible for the safe lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy
equipment and materials using cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices. The job
purpose of a rigger typically includes ensuring proper rigging techniques, inspecting
lifting gear, and coordinating with crane operators and ground crews to carry out
lifting operations safely and efficiently.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Select and assemble rigging gear (slings, shackles, chains, hooks)
according to the weight and shape of the load.
- Attach loads securely and direct lifting operations in coordination with crane
operators.
- Ensure all rigging activities comply with company safety procedures and
local regulations.
- Conduct pre-lift inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate
hazards.
